About Object Diaries
Object Diaries is an independent publication by Emmy Award-winning writer-producer Lisa Weiss.
Every issue tells a story about human connection, one secret object at a time.
This project has been a lifelong fascination. My father, who passed away in April 2023, didn't have many possessions as a child. He saved everything he owned, and most of it fits inside a little wooden cigar box: a yo-yo, baseball cards, a miniature deck of cards too small to deal a hand of poker. I grew up obsessed with this collection of tiny things. I've spent my life believing that objects like these, when held and examined, can bring people closer together.
Object Diaries is my attempt to prove it.
The project includes a limited-series podcast, a series of photographs, and workshops offered in community centers, workplaces, and museums. This newsletter is where I share the stories.
